Photographed a HS Football Game

Above is a video slideshow of the Marian Knights versus St Joseph Indians football game held on 9/1/2017 at Marian in Mishawaka, Indiana.  The game was a rivalry match up between two local catholic high schools.  I tried to capture some of the fan energy in a couple photos.

It was my first time photographing a high school football game and it was a pretty enjoyable experience.  I used a 2x teleconverter on my 70-200mm lens to get me the reach needed from beyond the end-zone.  I’m hoping for better access for the next time as there is only so much you can compose into a photo taken from an end-zone.  Due to the speed of the game, along with the lens I had, I limited the shutter to shoot no slower than 1/500th of a second – which pushed the ISO up to some perceptible graininess when the sun went down.  But noise is preferred over motion blur and that’s what I did.
